To support the development and national launch of the Atlas of Variation, three Short Life Working Group's (SLWG) were established.

Atlas Development SLWG
To ensure that the data collection process is as streamlined as possible and to ensure that the refreshed Primary Care Atlas of Variation is fit for purpose for rolling out nationally in 2022, to inform an ongoing programme of quality improvement work.

Quality Improvement SLWG
To utilise the Primary Care Atlas of Variation and Recovery Monitoring Dashboards to identify and lead on quality improvement projects, to reduce unwarranted variation in laboratory test requesting.

Education SLWG
To develop and implement an education toolkit to expedite and maximise the utility, impact and implementation of the National Diagnostic Atlas of Variation (AoV) in Primary Care.  An educational toolkit will contribute towards the delivery of standardised diagnostic testing practices across all boards in Scotland, with the aim to reduce harm, waste and unwarranted variation to improve health outcomes.
